Undefeated Timothy Bradley will face by far his biggest challenge of his professional career when he steps into the ring against Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 9th. The American boxer will have his home country behind him, but he will also have to deal with one of the most popular fighters in the world.
Both fighters are more than fresh, fighting for the first time in 2012. On paper, judging from strictly the records, this fight looks to be even. However, Pacquiao comes in as the heavy favorite.
Pacquiao’s last fight was a win, but it was still a bit underwhelming. He had to win by majority decision against Juan Manuel Marquez. Now he has to face a young, talented and hungry American fighter.
Oddsmakers currently have Pacquiao at -450 and Bradley at +325. Oddsmakers don’t seem to think much of Bradley in terms of chances to win, but many boxing experts think the fight will be closer than expected.
Besides the lackluster win against Marquez, Pacquiao has had other distractions outside of the ring. His personal issues with his wife, and his new role as both a preacher and politician could be stretching him too thin to train properly. Not only that, but Pacquiao is also not getting any younger.
For the overall prediction, I believe that Bradley can weather the storm and last all 12 rounds with Pacquiao. Pac-Man is much quicker than Bradley, even though he is older. That is the main key in this fight, and the reason I am ultimately going with Pacquiao to win the fight. He is a proven winner who loves the big stage. Losing to Bradley would be a devastating blow to a fighter who is still considered to be one of the best overall fighters in the world.
Pick: Manny Pacquiao by unanimous decision
