Texas Tech @ Kansas
The final week of the NCAA regular season is upon us, and some of the best teams in the country are still jockeying for position in the tournament. One team with eyes still on a possible #1 seed is Kansas. Just one more loss this season could knock them out of contention, so Monday’s home game against Texas Tech is a must-win.
On paper, this game should be a walk in the park for the Jayhawks. They are nearly unbeatable at home in Lawrence. Texas Tech has struggles all season long, notching just one road win all year. However, Kansas has shown vulnerability against weaker opponents so far this season, so it can happen again.
One positive for Kansas is that star Ben McLemore appears to finally be out of his scoring slump. Averaging 16.6 points per game, he scored 36 points on Saturday against West Virginia to get back on track. If they are going to make a run in the tournament, McLemore, Jeff Withey, Elijah Johnson and the rest of the crew will all have to be playing at the high level they are capable of.
With so much on the line, and the Jayhawks being so experienced, it seems unlikely that they would blow this game. Take the home team to win and cover, despite the spread being so high.
Pick: Kansas (-24.5), over (142)
