Miami Heat @ Minnesota Timberwolves
After picking up an emotional road win at Madison Square Garden yesterday, the Miami Heat will look to avoid any letdown when they travel to Minneapolis to take on the Timberwolves. Winners of 14 straight games, Miami is showing the rest of the NBA that they have their minds set on repeating as champions again in 2013.
Minnesota had a promising outlook on the season, but injuries have derailed their playoff aspirations. Between Ricky Rubio’s knee and Kevin Love’s hand, the 2012-2013 season has pretty much been a lost year. The Heat should win this game, but keeping focus is always the key.
When you are running away with the Eastern Conference and riding a franchise-record winning streak, distractions and fatigue can set in at some time. Predicting that is a bit difficult though. However, this game seems like the perfect trap game. The Timberwolves are not a good team, but they aren’t terrible. They play well at home and give better teams fits at times. Miami finally beat the Knicks yesterday, and they have to be a bit tired playing back-to-back road games.
Predicting a Timberwolves win in this one is probably too much. They will, however, do enough to cover the spread.
Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves (+8.5), over (199.5)
